Summer freshness on the Achensee

For centuries now, summer is the traditional "Peak season" of the people at the Achensee. This is probably the reason why the region offers such a host of activities in the springtime, fall and winter.

Fishing is, of course, a relaxed leisure activity in and around the lake. On acquiring the fishing license, an angler can fish anything from chars to pikes, to savor for dinner.

A boat ride without fishing can be fun, too. All around the lake, you can hire rowboats, paddleboats and motorboats. And yes, three cruise boats also do their rounds on the Achensee everyday. The St. Joseph ship has been in use for 120 years now - with the most modern ship, the MS Tirol, you can also go on a night cruise once a week.

It is optimal to combine a ship cruise with a ride on the Achensee train. This old steam engine has also been trudging its wagons up from Jenbach via Eben den Berg to Seespitz for over 100 years. Nostalgic passengers, families and day picnickers regularly enjoy the "grand Achensee round trip".

You can even get a bird’s eye view on the beauty of this region. On sunny days, the sky is often dotted with colorful flying kites and paragliders. Do you feel a pang of envy at this sight? Tandem flights are also possible anytime.

Another way of exploring your surroundings would be on horseback. In the Posthotel in Achenkirch you can take professional horse riding classes or join a ride with a group. Family Reiter is particularly proud of its Lippizaner horses. These gorgeous creatures from the Royal Vienna Riding School (Wiener Hofreitschule) are found only at the Achensee ... noblesse oblige!

Where there are horses, there are also carriages. Families with children, in particular, enjoy using the horse carriage to get to the Karwendel valleys. A relaxed way to enjoy the nature and the panorama around Pertisau.

Last but not least, Pertisau also offers its guests a Sports center. You can play tennis on open courts or indoors. You will also find a Squash court in the Sports center. And finally you can spend a pleasant holiday evening playing Minigolf with the family – really quite harmless!
