Winter magic at the Achensee

There are some winter activities that are more about fun than about actual sports. And we certainly take utmost care that our guest enjoy themselves thoroughly!
Why not take a toboggan ride with us? We at the Hotel Post have enough to drive on - from race sledges to children’s toboggans. Whether it‘s a lift ride or an evening stroll to the toboggan shed, one thing always holds true – there is excitement before the start...
You find two different types of toboggan tracks in Pertisau. One, which is a rather flat course from the Tristenautal valley and the other, which is the speedier variant from the toboggan shed, at half the height of the Zwölferkopf. On clear nights, these tracks are well-lit in order to avoid accidents. Also, sharp curves and other danger zones have been "blunted". We, of course, lend our guests the toboggans free of charge.
Ice-skating, too, is clearly one of the winter favorites. Normally, the Achensee no longer freezes completely - however, in the flat region of Buchau you will see regular ice skaters doing their rounds across the lake. It’s a unique feeling to race with the fishes in the lake. Well, life goes on as usual under the lucid blanket of ice in the Achensee, even in winter...
Pertisau, of course, has an skating rink where you can get ice skates on hire. With music and well-maintained ice, it’s twice as much fun. Children and youngsters are usually the most frequent visitors to this place.
Parents and grandparents will enjoy themselves in other ways, doing mock fights with cross-country walking sticks. You can even bet and race each other in Pertisau on 3 separate tracks. In the early evenings in particular, you will find many happy faces here.
One popular leisure activity for the whole family is the sleigh ride. You can comfortably go to the Karwendel valleys in a horse sleigh and enjoy the unique beauty from a wonderful perspective. You can even ride up to Ross in the Achental. In Achenkirch you can take professional horse riding lessons as well as guided rides on genuine Lippizaner horses.
Guided winter tours are also part of the winter fun! The G'sund & Vital trainers of the Hotel Post will escort you once a week on a flame torch trek through the Karwendel valleys. After retreating into one of the meadow huts, you may even request a pick-up service.
Provider in Pertisau
The sport shops in Pertisau also organize treks. Nordic Cruising, snowshoe trekking or even long winter walks are listed in the program. Those who wish to trek on their own are advised to take a look at our excursion tips.
For more turbulent holiday adventures, the Flying school Achensee is your partner. Tandem jumping with parachutes is possible in winter too. It is indeed an unforgettable experience, viewing the overwhelming mountain panorama of the Achental valley from high up in the air!
